Aboyne bonfire and fireworks to be held on the village green

The Aboyne Bonfire and Fireworks is being planned for Saturday, November 3 on Aboyne Green.

Miles Newman, Chairman of the Aboyne Bonfire Co-operative said: “This year we hope that the display and event will be even better. We will have several stalls selling burgers, hot and cold drinks, popcorn, muffins, sweets and snacks and of course the glow sticks and other glowing things.

These stalls are being run by local groups who are fundraising for local projects. We hope to have the Rotary Club, Aboyne Games Youth Forum, Mid Deeside Limited, Scene-on-the-Green and also a group of Academy pupils who are fundraising for a school trip.

The stalls will be serving slightly earlier starting this year from 5.30pm so that it’ll be easier to get served, so people should come early.

As in previous years we are really pleased to have Mick Mallett on the sound system providing music throughout the evening.”

The bonfire will be lit at 6.00pm and the fireworks will commence at around 7.00pm and last around twenty minutes.

Mr Newman added: “We would welcome any members of the public or local businesses with any spare timber or firewood to come to Aboyne Green to drop it off between 10.00am and 4.00pm on the day of the event. We will have a team of volunteers rattling the buckets as usual to cover the costs. I would be very grateful if any folk want to help marshal on the night or help with the set-up for a short while during the day to contact me on 07930-310940.”
