Mid Deeside Community Council welcomed two new members to their ranks as the group continues to deal with a busy local agenda.
Apart from developing the a Community Action Plan, the community council is also involved in the restoration of the village fountain and the citing of the proposed skatepark on the Green.
Welcoming Brian Kinkead and Elaine Mather to their recent meeting, Chairman of the Community Council Mick Mallett said: “We are delighted that Brian and Elaine have joined us. The Community Council is very busy at the moment as it continues to develop the Community Action Plan aimed at enhancing Aboyne, dealing with issues surrounding the proposed skatepark which has generated a great deal of discussion within the community, the restoration of the Fountain as part of the Jubilee Celebrations and of course scrutinising all planning applications and responding to day-to-day matters raised by residents.
Brian and Elaine have already shown that they can make a big contribution to the work of the Community Council.”
Brian and his wife Rachael have been resident in Aboyne for seven years and both work in the oil and gIndustry. Their two children attend Aboyne Primary School.
Brian said: “I am very keen to play my part in supporting all aspects of the Aboyne Community Action Plan and finding ways to create opportunities that encourage young people to remain in the community council area.”
Elaine has lived in Dess for nearly 16 years with her family and until October of last year she was working in Aberdeen and the surrounding area as a pharmacist.
Elaine said: “I’m really enjoying the meetings. The members come from a wide range of professions and this makes for interesting and lively debate. So far I have found it very rewarding getting involved with local events doing things for the community.”
