Film relay in Banchory

By bicycle, by horse and cart, by motorbike and sidecar, by mobile ceilidh and by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang…..these are just some of the ways that canisters of short films are being delivered to cinemas and arts venues around the country this summer, as part of an unusual Shetland Arts project. Hansel of Film – Shetland to Southampton and Back is part of the London 2012 Festival celebrating the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Hansel of Film relay, whose organisers include film critic Mark Kermode, arrives in Banchory at Woodend Barn on Tuesday, August 14, when ‘runner’ Peter Crayk will bring it from Edinburgh by car, with a roof-mounted camera which will record his journey. There will be a free screening at Woodend Barn at 7.30pm of short films made by people across the UK, including Shetland, Edinburgh and the North of Scotland (including Aberdeenshire.
