Multi-million contracts awarded by Council

Aberdeenshire Council has appointed five main contractors as part of a multi-million pound capital programme of works over the next three years.

The award of the framework allows the Council to proceed with the initial procurement of the Mearns Academy project, due to start on site in the summer of 2012.

Thereafter the Council will consider the further procurement of works covering replacement and upgraded schools, care homes and various infrastructure projects valued at over £200 million.

The council has undertaken a major exercise to select contractors to its Main Contractor Work’s Framework. The successful contractors have been announced as Morrison Construction, Robertson Construction, Lend Lease, Miller Construction and FMP.

Chair of Policy & Resources Committee, Cllr Anne Robertson said: “We are delighted to be moving forward with the framework and have five excellent contractors who have a proven track record of project delivery. The development of our Capital Plan is an important milestone on the road to delivering major building projects over the next three years which will play an important role in our communities for decades to come. The appointment is the first step in helping us realise these plans.”
