Silver and bronze awards for Council
Aberdeenshire Council’s development of the Community Asset Transfer (CAT) process secured a silver honour at the COSLA Excellence Awards.
The authority was recognised in the ‘Strong and Sustainable Communities’ category for its development of the CAT approach across Aberdeenshire.
Community asset transfer involves the transfer of responsibility for an asset from the council to a voluntary or community organisation.
This transfer can be conducted in different ways, such as the transfer of management responsibility through short or long term lease arrangement or through the transfer of outright ownership.
The award was announced as part of COSLA and Improvement Service annual conference.
A further four bronze awards were secured by the council.
These were for Improving School Transport Safety; School Travel Planning in Aberdeenshire; Kaizen for Daily Improvement; and the council’s workspace initiative.
Leader of Aberdeenshire Council Cllr Anne Robertson said: “This award is not only an honour for the officers leading the project, but is also a reflection of the innovation and dedication being shown by communities across Aberdeenshire.”
