Westhill firm Technip has announced the start of the next phase of re-development works at the company’s site.

Following initial enabling work earlier this year, part of the site will be demolished to make way for a new state-of-the-art facility which is due to be completed in August 2013.

The project will see the construction of a 60,000 sq ft building and one and a half storey car park, replacing existing buildings on the site.

The new facility will provide extensive office space, including meeting rooms and dedicated emergency response facilities, as well as a restaurant, coffee shop and gym facilities.

Current parking at the site will be boosted by around 450 spaces on completion of the project.

Bill Morrice, Managing Director Technip UK said: “The development of our Westhill site comes at an extremely positive time for the company.

“The next stage of the expansion of our new facilities is an important step for us as we aim to ensure we continue to be in the best possible position to meet our clients developing needs, both now and in the future.”

Robertson, the infrastructure, support services and construction group, has been appointed as main contractor for the development.

Keith Taylor, regional managing director at Robertson commented: “The Robertson team has already commenced work at the Technip site. Over the course of the 54 week contract, around 70 construction personnel will be on site each week. Following the completion of the new building, existing buildings at the site will undergo a period of refurbishment.
