Tarland service cut

Tarland Post Office is to close following the resignation of the Subpostmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use.

Post Office Ltd says they will have to “temporarily close” Tarland Post Office branch from February 11

Brian Turnbull, Field Change Advisor for Post Office Ltd said: “Regrettably, following the resignation of the Subpostmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for Post Office, and despite our best efforts to maintain a Post Office counter service at this location, we have no other option but to temporarily close this branch.

The provision of a Post Office® service to our customers in the local community is of paramount importance and it is therefore important that any future service is sustainable for the new Subpostmaster and for Post Office Ltd.

We will continue to review solutions to provide a Post Office service in the area as soon as possible.”

Customers are free to use the service most convenient for them, but two alternative Post Office branches in the area are: Aboyne branch, Charleston Road, Aboyne and Kincardine O’Neil branch, 40 North Deeside Road,

North East MSP, Nanette Milne says she has sought assurances regarding the future of services in Tarland.

She said: “It is very sad news that due to ill health, the sub-postmistress is no longer able to maintain a Post Office service and has had to resign.

I am sure the whole community would wish her well for the future.

I have been assured by Post Office Limited that it is their intention to keep a Post Office in Tarland and that although they will have to operate reduced opening times they are currently investigating all options available to provide a future sustainable Post Office service for the community.”
