The parents of pupils currently in S2 were invited to a Curriculum Evening on February 2.
Headteacher Mrs Milne and depute headteacher Mrs Park (curriculum), gave a presentation on the new Curriculum for Excellence and the academy’s planning for course choice in S3.
Parents then took part in a workshop to look more closely at progression pathways in the new curriculum.
Silver medal
Congratulations go to S4 pupil, Hayley Muirhead, who gained a silver medal in verse and prose from The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
Hayley has achieved a wide range of awards from LAMDA, including acting and dialogue performance.
Hayley is currently working on her gold medal for acting.
Parents’ evening
S2 parents’ evening took place in the games hall on Tuesday, February 7.
For S2 pupils and parents, this evening was an opportunity to review academic progress and to inform course choice in S3.
Young musician
The annual Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition will again be organised by the academy’s Interact Club.
The competition is to be held in the academy at 7pm on Wednesday, March 14. Members of the public are invited to attend.
CLAN talk
As part of their PSE programme, S1 pupils recently received a talk from Marion Brown of CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen and North).
Pupils learned about the role of CLAN in supporting people who are suffering from cancer and also family and friends affected by the illness.
