Musical duo to return to Deeside

Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham

Crathes Castle is once again the venue which will host the picnic concert with Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham.

Saturday 4th August is the date for the musical duos return visit to Deeside to perform together as part of their tour.

Event organiser Peter Ferguson, from pdf Productions, said: “Having held this event in Banchory for a number of years now, it’s always a great joy to welcome them both back to the area to perform such a fantastic evenings entertainment. Attending an Aly and Phil show is an unforgettable experience. Not only have they been described as “the best traditional musicians you are ever likely to hear” they also have a reputation for their irrepressible sense of fun and quick-witted story telling. This year’s event is expected to be yet another sell out.”

Last year Phil and Aly’s 25th Anniversary tour through August and September took them from the Borders to Shetland, the Western Isles, and to many of Scotland’s major theatre venues. As ever they take on the whole country, selling out venues large and small. With a cumulative audience of around 20,000, they are indeed a festival in themselves.

The duo have been very busy with their many other separate and joint endeavours. Phil’s recent series for BBC, which took him across the globe in filming in a wide variety of locations, was met with great acclaim, while the latest series of “The Transatlantic Sessions” has likewise garnered praise across the world.

Bringing together their experiences across the year, their now firmly established annual tour of Scotland brings a fresh and dynamic show every year, with of course the usual banter and laughter that is part of the whole experience of attending an ‘Aly and Phil’ event.

Described by Mike Russell as “simply the best traditional musicians you are ever likely to hear”, their shows are an established highlight of the Scottish musical calendar.
