A murder-mystery event, produced by the Cluny Players and performed in Alford Golf Club in association with Alford & District Rotary Club, provided fun, laughter and the slight edge of competition.
A packed house of amateur sleuths dredged their combined skills of detection to unravel the plot of 'Allo, 'Allo (more aptly subtitled 'Aye, aye, fit like?') with varying degrees of success, as the plot led them up the usual blind alleys and dead ends, to the eventual denouement, which Interpol would have struggled to uncover!

For the first time, the mystery was solved by the astute Alford audience and Alastair Robertson, of the Cluny Players, said: "Alford proved itself a centre of excellence and you'd think twice about performing a murder here! Once again, it was an excellent evening, enjoyed by all."

The staff of Alford Golf Club laid on an excellent meal to tempt the appetites of those jaded with the diet of red herrings, and the whole evening ended in the usual hilarity, as each group's efforts at crime detection were appraised.

Ticket sales and raffle raised a total of around £850, to be distributed to local charities in due course.

Alford & District Rotary Club thanked Alford Golf Club for the use of the clubhouse, golf club staff, all those who attended and donated prizes and, of course, the Cluny Players.
