THE Friends of Allachburn Care Home are holding a silent auction this Friday ( March 12) at the Victory Hall in Aboyne.

The evening will start at 7.30pm and will raise funds for the residents of the care home.

Amongst the auction items is a Virgin balloon flight over Deeside, a Land Rover safari in Glen Tanar, a week's holiday in Tenerife, several days' fishing and other exciting items, including a ton of manure!

Michael Rasmussen, Chairman of The Friends of Allachburn in Aboyne, said: "The committee has worked extremely hard to raise over 60 items for the auction and we have everything from flights to teddy bears, so that there is something to meet everyone's pocket.

"We are looking forward to as many people coming along as possible on Friday to join us in a glass of wine and nibbles and helping us raise funds for this forthcoming year."

The Friends of Allachburn were formed over 15 years ago and the committee raises funds to provide comforts and treats for the residents of the care home.

In 2009, the Friends provided a new digital wide screen television system with induction sound and a new DVD recorder, along with a specialist bed and assistance with lifting hoists. These were in addition to the group's regular commitments to provide Christmas and birthday presents, outings and flowers for the garden in the summer.
