OVER 80 family guests and friends joined a Skene woman this weekend to celebrate her 100th birthday.
Mrs Elizabeth Bruce (nee Beaton) who resides at Berryhill Farm reached the milestone on Sunday, June 7.

The great-grandmother and her late husband John spent their working lives at the farm, which is now run by their son George.

A party was held at the Red Star Inn at Kirkton of Skene to mark Mrs Bruce's birthday and her three daughters, Norma Watt (67), Elizabeth Scaife (63) and Gladys McAllan (59) along with son George (66) were all present.

Mrs Bruce, who has lived through two world wars, has 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Aberdeenshire's Lord Lieutenant Angus Farquharson and Westhill and District councillor Gurudeo Saluja both visited Mrs Bruce the day before her birthday to present her with a floral basket and congratulatory card.

Her youngest daughter Gladys said her mother had enjoyed a "terrific day".

She added: "She had a great time. She was very proud, especially when the Lord Lieutenant and the local councillor came along and presented her with a bouquet of flowers. She was also delighted to receive her card from the Queen."
