A 12-year-old from Alford raised £635 for Cancer Research by giving up television and computer games for a fortnight.

Calum Mathers, pictured with a thank you letter from Cancer Research, thanked all his friends, family and everyone who helped him raise the money by sponsoring him not to watch tv or play computer games for two weeks.

Last year he raised £360 by not eating sweets or chocolate for a month and was determined to beat his target.
