£7,000 to the good!

Banchory Primary School and PTA say they are delighted after raising £7,000 at their Summer Extravaganza on Saturday.

The school PTA said they were grateful to everyone who helped and supported the fun packed Olympic themed family afternoon of sports challenges, demonstrations from Banchory Gymnastics Club and martial arts and live music from the school band along with many other activities and games for all.

The pupils also put their enterprising skills to the test with every class making products or activities to sell.

The funds raised will be put towards resources for the school.

PTA Chairperson Moira Haynes said: “We are overwhelmed by the support we received from local businesses and Banchory high street shops who have supported the event through sponsorship or prizes for the raffle and silent auction.”

“It is wonderful that we have raised such a substantial amount for the school, as it gives the teachers the opportunity to purchase a variety of resources and equipment.”

“This year we are primarily fundraising for ‘Maths on Track - Wee Red Boxes’, a classroom resource that supports core skills in maths and numeracy. We also hope to enhance our outdoor play areas with additional sports equipment.”

“The Extravaganza is the main fundraising event for Banchory Primary School so we are delighted that everyone got behind us and made the event such a huge success.”
