Over 350 guests dance the night away at the ball

This year’s Summer Marquee Ball has been hailed as a huge success, after the event at Raemoir House Hotel, raised thousands for Gastocan - local research into Gastric and Oesophageal cancers in the Aberdeen area.

The annual event has to date raised over a quarter of a million pounds for local charities, since it began back in 1998.

Over 350 guests danced the night away at the ball.

The fine auction on the night, raised over £11,000 alone, with Malcolm Appleby’s silver bangle selling for £750.

The’ Hog Roast for 100’, sponsored by Paul Smith Butchers, fetched £1100 and the Manchester United signed top, selling for £850.

The first prize in the grand raffle - a week’s holiday for two in Tenerife, including flights and accommodation,sponsored by local company Rubberatkins - was won by Mr Paul Law of Banchory.

The second prize, an afternoon tea and dinner b&b at Raemoir House Hotel, went to Susan Black of Banchory.

Third Prize of a champagne and strawberry pamper afternoon at Banchory’s Riah Body & Soul, went to Neil Robb of Torphins. 

Many other prizes were sent out to winners from the Banchory and Aberdeenshire area.

The table quiz this year, based on the ‘Qlympic’ theme, was won by Mr and Mrs Douglas Keith and guests, who won a case of champagne, sponsored by Drumtochty Castle.

Organisers thanked “all the companies and individuals who supported this year’sevent, especially Mr and Mrs Neil Rae, of Raemoir House Hotel, first time hosts to the Summer Ball, for all their support, enthusiasm, and professional handling of the event.” 

The final total amount raised will be announced shortly.
