Another scoop for Scott!
AN ASPIRING media entrepreneur from Alford Academy has landed a major scoop by persuading the First Minister to write an exclusive article for his news website.
Fourteen-year-old Scott Campbell from Dunecht posted the article written by Alex Salmond on his website NND Scotland on Thursday this week.
The third year pupil said: "We contacted Mr Salmond's press office a few months ago requesting a guest post and they were more than happy to help.
"In the run up to the general election, it's good to see that Alex Salmond is using new mediums to connect with voters and explain the political process. We are currently working with other political party leaders to receive articles."
Scott set up international news website Net News Daily in January last year before relaunching the site in December as NND Scotland after deciding to solely focus on Scottish news stories.
The website has already broken a number of exclusive stories, including unmasking American teenager Michael Mooney who hacked Twitter – a story that was followed up by international media.
Scott is editor of the news agency and website which is staffed by teens from across Scotland. The group has provided pictures to a number of local and national media outlets, including the Scotsman newspaper and the BBC news website.
Scott, who is also a budding photographer, has recently contributed pictures to the Deeside and Donside Piper.
Along with revising for his Standard Grades, the busy teenager is also teaching himself Teeline Shorthand and getting to grips with Scots Law for Journalists.
The youngster hopes the experience he is currently gaining will ultimately help him land his dream job.
He added: "I want to work in the media one day but I appreciate that there aren't many jobs going about at the moment so getting as much experience as I can just now will hopefully stand me in good stead for the future."
