Biker killed - Police appeal for witnesses.

Grampian Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road collision that occurred on the A97 Huntly to Lumsden road on Sunday morning.

A 38 year old male motorcyclist died at the scene after his blue Suzuki GSXR motor cycle collided with a red Alfa Romeo motor car about a mile north of Lumsden shortly after 11am.

The 59 year old male driver of the Alfa Romeo and female passenger within that vehicle were uninjured.

Inspector Scott Mann of the Grampian Road Policing Department attended the scene of the collision.

He said: “Sadly, a man has died at this scene today after the motorcycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car.

His immediate family have been notified and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

We are in the process of establishing the cause of the collision and the road was closed for several hours to allow us to examine the scene.

It is important that we trace all witnesses and I appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or its immediate aftermath, and who has not yet spoken with Police, to contact us at the earliest opportunity.

Grampian Police can be contacted on 0845 600 5 700.

It is thought the motorcyclist was on his way to the annual Grampian Motorcycle Convention in Alford.
