A Donside community group is appealing for volunteers to bring the sparkle to Alford this Christmas.
The eight-member Alford Christmas Lights Working committee are well on their way to for this year’s festive switch on, set for Friday, November 22.
Fundraising events have been taking place throughout the year and the committee have paid for this year’s display.
But now help is being sought with the installation of the lights around the centre of the village in the two weeks prior to the switch on.
A spokesperson for the group said: “This will involve taking the lights out of storage, preparing them for use and finally helping to install them on the lamp posts on the main street, on the Christmas Tree itself and also dressing the trees in the gardens at the Haughton Arms hotel. We will also need help on the night to run the event. If we do not get (this) there is a danger the event may not go ahead.“
