A Deeside-based scuba diving company is looking on the sunny side and has confirmed its next dive location will be in the Caribbean.

Banchory man Mungo Finlayson, proprietor of Scuba Duba Dive, has said the island of Utila will be the next venture for his young firm.

A 10-week marine conservation project in Fiji gave Mungo a lasting love of diving and provided the inspiration for Scuba Duba Dive.

He set up his home-based company in May last year, with help from Business Gateway Aberdeen City and Shire,

He co-ordinates trips for individuals and groups and includes flights, transfers, accommodation, equipment and instruction at various locations all over the world.

Mungo said: “After experiencing many dive centres in Europe, Africa, Asia and Australasia which were good, not so good, bad and frankly appalling, I decided to set-up Scuba Duba Dive. The aim is to offer dive holidays and training courses at very competitive prices, in quality approved centres worldwide.

‘‘I’d made good contacts in certain countries so wanted to use these instructors to provide a first class diving experience that encourages those interested in the sport to continue with it.”

Karen Stewart. from Business Gateway Aberdeen City and Shire. said: “Mungo has set up a business that is unique in the North- east.”
