Donside residents urged to help shape community plan

RESIDENTS of Kildrummy, Lumsden and Towie are being urged to help shape their own community action plan.

A steering group, comprising local residents and chaired by Donside Community Council, is organising the involvement of as many people as possible to ensure that their needs and aspirations are taken into account in the action plan.

Residents are being urged to complete a questionnaire, which is being delivered to houses in the area this week. The questionnaire can also be filled in on-line at www.marrareapartnership.org.uk

When all the information from the questionnaires has been gathered and collated it will be presented at a community open day in Lumsden Village Hall on November 28, from 3pm to 7pm, for people to review the results and discuss what they want.

The open day will also give people the opportunity to find out more about the Kildrummy wind farm community benefit fund and how they can be involved in its distribution.

The Scottish Community Foundation, which will be administering the Fund on behalf of the wind farm developer RENERCO will also be at the open day.

As well as the fund, which a spokesman said is “expected to be at least £20,000 per year initially and to increase over the lifetime of the wind farm”, RENERCO is supporting the process to develop the action plan.

Many other communities in Aberdeenshire have prepared their own community action plans. This process has the support of the Aberdeenshire Community Planning Partnership and is usually facilitated by the rural partnership in their area. Kildrummy, Lumsden and Towie are in Marr and are being supported by the Marr Area Partnership
