Emeli in line for top music award
Alford songstress Emeli Sandé has been nominated for a prestigious music award for the second year running.
The Donside pop star is in line for a Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Award in the Music category
Emeli first came to the public eye in 2009 when she featured on rapper Chipmunk’s debut single, Diamond Rings, which she had co-written. This year she won the BRIT Critic’s Choice Award, sang at the Olympics and boasts the best selling album of the year to date. Emeli faces stiff competition for the award from three other nominees: violinist Nicola Benedetti, Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis and Johnny Lynch, aka The Pictish Trail.
There are nine categories in the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Awards – Music, Art, Business, Environment, Sport, Writing, Screen, Food and Top Scot.
The winners of are determined by public vote and will be announced at a ceremony in Edinburgh in November.
