The post box in Westhill Drive is to stay gold to mark the achievement of local Olympic hero, Tim Baillie.
Royal Mail says that all its gold post boxes - celebrating Olympic and Paralympic successes - will remain gold permanently.
Each post box will also have a plaque which names the athlete and marks their achievement
Tim Baillie won Olympic gold medal in the Men’s Double Canoe Slalom at the London Games this summer.
This is believed to be the first time in its history that Royal Mail has permanently changed the colour of some of its iconic boxes to celebrate an historic achievement.
The boxes - 10 in Scotland - have become local landmarks.
Royal Mail has also produced stamps to celebrate each gold medal which will be available to buy until December 31.
Alex Salmond, First Minister, said: “Scottish Olympians and Paralympians kept us all gripped this summer by their spectacular achievements at London 2012, and none more so than our gold medallists. Their achievements have been marked up and down Scotland, from Andy Murray’s gold post box in Dunblane to Sir Chris Hoy’s double in Edinburgh.
“As far north as Lossiemouth and down to Peebles in the Borders, the ten gold boxes celebrating their success have become hugely popular in their own right and it is a fitting tribute that they are to be kept as a permanent reminder of the wonderful achievements of our athletes.”
