westhill’s Olympic Gold medallist Tim Baillie today announced the latest recommended posting dates for Christmas delivery.

Tim, gold medallist in the Men’s canoe slalom double also encouraged people to post early to help Royal Mail spread the workload during its busiest time of the year.

The last posting dates for UK Christmas delivery are: First Class - Thursday 20 December;Second Class - Tuesday 18 December;Special Delivery - Saturday 22 December

Tim said: “One of the best things about winning gold this summer was seeing the joy and pride it brought to my family and friends. I’m looking forward to reliving it with them at Christmas card time. Royal Mail did an amazing job of celebrating our Nation’s Olympic success with the gold medal stamps and golden postboxes.

“This Christmas I’ll be returning the favour and helping make their job easier by posting my Christmas cards early and making sure I use the correct postcode. If you enjoyed the Olympics this summer you should do the same!!”

Customers sending Christmas cards and presents abroad are also being encouraged to post early. Airmail last posting dates for Christmas delivery are: Wednesday 5 December for Asia, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand;

Friday 7 December for South and Central America, the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East; Monday 10 December for Eastern Europe, the USA and Canada;

Wednesday 12 December for Western Europe
