Donside Protest Group ‘No To Tibberchindy Wind Farm’ have had their banner stolen after just four days.

The banner was outside the well known Mossat Antiques shop at the side of the A97.

The group say they hoped to place a few banners in prominent sites in the area, stating their objection to a proposed wind farm development for Coiliochbhar Hill.

Group member Vicky Dawson told the Piper:”We were delighted to get the permission of supporters Frank and Jean Garden of Mossat Antiques to put a large banner on the verge outside their shop. This is their property and they have done a sterling job helping us.

We rely wholly on the goodwill and contributions of our supporters and we hoped to place a few banners in prominent positions with the permission of like minded land owners and residents.

Unlike Tibberchindy Wind Farm developer Infinis, we do not have the means, nor the access, to sponsor community events.”

The banner, says Vicky, disappeared after four days.

“Sadly, the day that the actual wind turbines came to the site of the nearby Kildrummy Wind Farm, the plastic banner and posts were taken. I would have more respect for whoever did this if they’d put up their own banner with their own message on the same stretch of road.”

Fellow group member Charles McGeachie added: “The local population is being taken for a ride by the landowners, developers and politicians. Short-term profits and political spin are being made at the long-term cost of local households, businesses and wildlife. It is outrageous that no discussion is taking place with residents or meaningful compensation offered to the community.”

Tibberchindy Wind Farm is a proposed development for Coiliochbhar Hill, west of Alford.
