Deeside walkers were recently encouraged to hike, bike or ascend Banchory’s Scolty Hill in any fashion they like for charity funds.
Banchory West Church has had a partnership with the Aba Urban Health Centre in South- east Nigeria since 2002.
The Health Centre has been providing healthcare for over a quarter of a million people living in a deprived part of Aba city since 1999.
The ‘Hike Bike Anyway you like up Scol-tea’ fundraising event aimed to raise £3,500 as a contribution.
Teams from Banchory were sponsored to go up Scolty hill ‘any way you like’.
A group of Banchory Beavers were dressed as a crocodile, many were in fancy dress and one brave participant went up on hands and knees!
The event finished with afternoon tea.
A spokesperson for the Church said: “A big thank you to the generosity of sponsors and the many people of all ages who took part. Now all the money has been counted; with gift aid that can be reclaimed, we raised a total just over £3,500! This is being sent straight out to Nigeria and will be used to help...”
