Neil's 40th birthday wish!

A GENEROUS Alford man has raised over £2,000 for a national charity that grants magical wishes to youngsters fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Neil Dobson asked for donations to the Make A Wish Foundation UK rather than presents for his 40th birthday last month.

Mr Dobson was delighted to raise 2,200 for the charity. He said: "I decided to ask for donations rather than presents as I wanted somebody else to benefit from my birthday - plus I didn't want to end up with dozens of hip flasks!

"The Make A Wish Foundation is a very worthy charity that does a lot of great work and it is a charity that doesn't get as much recognition in Scotland."

The charity was founded in the UK in 1986 and since then has granted over 5,700 wishes.

With over 20,000 children in the UK living with life-threatening conditions at any one time, the charity's work is never ending. It aims to ensure every one of these children is able to experience the magic and joy of a Make-A-Wish wish.
