Plea for new homes for rescued ponies
Owners are being sought for two ponies who have been waiting to find new homes at the Scottish SPCA’s Aberdeenshire centre, since it opened at Drumoak last year.
Chestnut gelding Danny and bay mare Lucky were rescued by Scotland’s animal welfare charity after their previous owner was unable to provide them with the care they required.
They have spent more than six months being looked after by centre staff, but few people have expressed any interest in rehoming them.
Centre Manager Graeme Innes said: “When they first arrived, Danny and Lucky were both in poor condition but they have made an excellent recovery and are now looking fantastic.
“At around seven years old, they are still young and active and would benefit from further schooling. We think they’ve got great potential and with time and commitment, they could both make ridden ponies, though they’d be equally happy as field companions.
“Lucky is a stunning bay mare with a very sweet nature. She’s very good with the vet and the farrier and she’d be happy to live outside, as long as she had good field shelter. Danny is a cracking wee pony who is generally good to handle and with an experienced owner, he’ll come on leaps and bounds. Owning a horse or pony is a big commitment in terms of both time and money, but it can also be extremely rewarding.
