The Provost of Aberdeenshire, Councillor Jill Webster, presented a Christmas donation of £1,500 to the Forget-Me-Not Club.

The Deeside-based charity provides support, assistance and care to people with Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia, and their carers. The Forget-Me-Not Club is based in Banchory and provides support to people across the Deeside area.

The charity has a number of special interest groups including the Forget Me Notes singing group and a Men’s Group, and provide a number of complimentary therapies including Tai Chi, Reiki, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage.

The Provost chose the Forget-Me-Not Club as this year’s charity to receive a Christmas donation, on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council.

Cllr Webster handed over the cheque at the Forget-Me-Not Club’s Christmas Party on Wednesday 19 December.

She said: “I am delighted to be able to support the Forget-Me-Not Club and the vital work they do to support people with dementia, and their carers, in Deeside.

“Dementia is a devastating disease and it is important that people suffering from it, and their families, receive all of the care and support that they need.

“With an ageing population in Aberdeenshire, in line with the rest of the country, this is an issue that must remain a priority and one which I am happy to get behind.”
