Local MSP Dennis Robertson officially opened Westhill’s newest optician’s shop earlier this month.

Accompanied by his faithful guide dog Mr.Q, the West Aberdeenshire member was joined by the new staff at the launch of the Specsavers store.

Mr Robertson said: “I was delighted to respond to the invitation of the opening of the new Specsavers store in Westhill. I have congratulated the store director and everyone at Specsavers for the opening of their new store, and also for Specsavers’ contribution to Scottish Football with the signing of a substantial six-figure sponsorship deal with Scotland’s football referees.”

The member also highlighted the need for regular check-ups: “I would like to take this opportunity to remind the public of the importance of the free biennial eye tests. The early detection of conditions such as glaucoma and diabetes can make a real difference to sufferers’ lives and can even save their eye sight.”

The new store includes purpose-built testing rooms with state of the art technology including retinal cameras.

Store director Jill McArthur said: “It’s incredibly exciting to launch our new store here in Westhill. Everyone has already been very welcoming and we’re delighted to officially open our doors to the public.”
