Supporting our soldiers

Tesco Banchory is backing Support Our Soldiers by being a drop-off point for care parcel donations.

Support Our Soldiers was formed in March 2003 to encourage and provide support for members of the British Armed Forces serving overseas and their families at home.

Since that time, thanks to the overwhelming kindness and generosity of the British public, more than 100,000 morale-boosting care parcels have been sent out to those on the frontline, and countless families helped through the very difficult time with their loved ones away on tour.

A trolley for donations can be found at the end of the tills for shoppers to drop off toiletries, sweets, crisps, magazines, packets of soups etc.

A list of suitable items for donation is displayed on the trolley.

Bob Campbell, SOS trustee and regional co-ordinator will be in Tesco Banchory on Saturday (May 26), to help promote the charity and answer any questions about it.

Pictured is Private Ruaraidh Stewart, 20, from Banchory, who has recently returned from a six-month tour in Afghanistan with 3 Scots and who knows how much the troops appreciate care parcels.
