A team from Westhill-based firm ThinJack Ltd has just completed a gruelling cycle ride in aid of charity.

The group comprising Guy Bromby, Bob Ure, Robin Goodwin and Mika Mackenzie cycled from Inverness to Aberdeen as part of the two-day G.O.T. Ride the North challenge, raising money for the Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal to build a new cancer care centre in Aberdeen.

With the route covering some 164 miles, each ascended a total of 10,614 feet and burned nearly 9,000 calories in their efforts to reach the Aberdeen finishing line.

“It was a tough challenge but as well as raising money for a great cause, Ride the North was a brilliant teambuilding exercise for ThinJack,” said Guy Bromby.

“We spent a lot of time together on training rides but the event itself, whilst not a race, really brought out the best in people in an environment away from our usual one. It really did prove that great things can be done with some commitment and determination – and in my case it was done on the back of a £50 bike!”

Organiser Neil Innes added: “The ThinJack team certainly wins the award for team spirit, with all four members finishing all together. I am sure it was tough at times, but hope it was a worthwhile experience for all involved.”

Donations are continuing to pour in and anyone wishing to contribute to ThinJack Ltd’s fundraising efforts should visit https://www.justgiving.com/Mika-Mackenzie0
