An 800-year-old stately home in Donside will be opening the gates as a wedding venue for the first time in its extensive history.

Monymusk house, which is believed to date back to the 13th century, is situated on the banks of the River Don, with Bennachie in the background.

The Grant families have lived at Monymusk House since 1703, and Archie Grant’s daughter, Katie, married her husband, Aaron, there in July last year.

The ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church in Monymusk and the reception at her father’s home, just a short walk from the church.

The family called upon the services of local company Country Flavours of Alford to co-ordinate and cater at the wedding.

Over the several months of planning the wedding a friendship between the Grant family and Elizabeth Greig at Country Flavours was made.

They have since been retained as the estate’s exclusive caterer.

Having worked in the wedding industry for a number of years, Elizabeth was only too aware of the lack of venues in Donside to host weddings and saw Monymusk House’s potential .

Weddings hosting up to 250 day guests can be catered for in the marquee with space for a further 100 in the evening.
