A North- east MSP has said that a BBC television programme is the ideal way to “showcase Deeside” to potential visitors in other parts of the United Kingdom.
Nanette Milne, Scottish Conservative MSP for the North East has congratulated the BBC their Winter Watch television programme which has been based at Mar Lodge Estate.
The television programme has attracted an estimated audience of 4 million across the UK.
Presenters Michaela Strachan, Chris Packham and Martin Hughes-Games use hidden cameras to show the life of local animals as they struggle with the winter onset.
Dr Milne said: “Tourism continues to develop as a major economic growth area in Scotland and in the North- east in particular, where we have a wealth of attractions, from our nature and natural heritage to our historic sites and cultural events.
“2013 was a good year for tourism in Scotland with a significant increase in UK and German visitors...
“It is vital that the Scottish Government and its partner agencies develop a strategy which will promote communities across the North- east of Scotland to these visitors not just the central belt...”
