ALFORD golfer Laura Murray slipped into 29th position after a disappointing second round in the 12th World University Golf Championships in South Africa.
The Robert Gordon University student made an impressive start to the competition and was tied ninth on the first day after shooting a 79. However Laura dropped twenty places after carding a disappointing round of 85 that included six double-bogeys.
The Robert Gordon University student is in an elite team of three British students who have been selected to represent Great Britain at the prestigious event in Sun City this week.
She teed off for her third round of the competition earlier this morning (September 4).
The 20-year-old is currently ranked number two in the Scottish Ladies Order of Merit. She gained her first Scotland cap playing in the Ladies Home Internationals at Dunbar Golf Club last year and recently won the R&A Bursars Title at St Andrews.
Before Laura headed to South Africa she said: "I'm really excited to have been selected for the GB team for Sun City and hope I can do the university and my country proud.
"The conditions out there are going to be challenging due to the heat, averaging 27 degrees centigrade, and the humidity that comes at this time of year but I'm sure we'll cope. It's going to be a fantastic experience and I'm looking forward to it."
Laura is competing on the Lost City course where she will have to do her best to keep her ball away from a crocodile-infested hazard on the 13th hole.
The competition continues until September 5. To find out how Laura gets on buy next week's Piper or visit www.deesidepiper.com.
