The result means Cove Thistle still need all three points from their last game against University to secure the Premier League title.

The game started on a very heavy, wet pitch and Cove were first to attack with Chalmers forcing saves from keeper Garden.

Cove's Michael Chalmers put his team ahead in the 17th minute when he received a pass from Little and chipped the keeper from 18 yards.

Both sets of players were finding it hard to keep their feet in the conditions, although Echt continued to press for an equaliser but Graham shot narrowly past the post.

But Echt did restore parity in 31 minutes when a long ball out of defence fell to McGillvray who passed to Mike Scotland and he fired the ball under the diving keeper.

Just on half time a scramble in Cove's six-yard box saw the ball rebound off the post before being cleared upfield.

Echt were hungry for a win and started the second half pushing forward with a shot from Scotland, which was held at the second attempt by keeper Hopkins.

In 54 minutes Echt forced a corner and the ball was headed out as far as Roger who passed to Callum Murray and his shot found the back of the net.

Three minutes later Cove were awarded a penalty when Chalmers was brought down in the box. Wilson took the spot kick but keeper Garden guessed correctly and dived to his right to push the ball round the post for a corner.

Cove had a chance when Chalmers was through one on one with the keeper but he put his shot past the post.

In 67 minutes Echt's keeper Garden kicked the ball from the edge of his own box and it bounced over the Cove keeper's outstretched arm into the net.

With a minute left Cove were caught pushing forward, which allowed Echt's Callum Murray through to complete the scoring.
