THE junior football season gets underway this weekend with Banchory Saint Ternan and Culter in action in the Grill Cup.
Both Deeside clubs face away matches with Steve Scott's Banchory making the trip to Cruden Bay and Bobby Gray's Culter side kicking off their campaign against Turriff United on Saturday.
Banchory Saint Ternan prepared for the fixture by winning 4-0 in the last of their pre-season friendlies against amateur side Westdyke on Tuesday (July 29).
First half goals from new signing Martyn Donald and last season's second top scorer Ross Donald put Banchory into a comfortable half-time lead.
The Saints took their foot off the pedal in the second half but further goals from Martyn Donald and Alan Ogston gave them a comfortable 4-0 win.
Steve Scott will be hoping his new signings can give his side the added impetus to make the step up to Superleague football when the league campaign kicks off with a hugely anticipated local Deeside derby against Culter on August 19.
The Banchory gaffer has signed former Montrose defender Darryn Kelly and 22-year-old Martyn Donald from Hibernian. The Saints have also added Martin Brookes from Stonehaven, Mikey Jack from Lads Club and ex-Sunnybank player Neil Henderson to their squad.
Steve said: "I'm still looking at one or two more players. We had Darryn Kelly on loan last season and it is great to have added him to our squad as he will shore things up at the back.
"Martyn Donald has also performed well in pre-season. He used to play for Hibs but he broke his ankle and damaged his ligaments whilst playing on loan for Montrose.
He hasn't played for 18 months but he has been looking very good so far."
The Saints face Lewis United in their second Grill Cup section three fixture on Tuesday night at The Milton (kick-off 7.15pm).
Bobby Gray's Culter are joined in section five of the Grill Cup by FC Stoneywood, Hermes, Hall Russell United, Hillhead, Turriff United and Parkvale.
The Deesiders, who made several new signings over the summer period including former Aberdeen player Hugh Robertson, are also in action on Tuesday night at home against Parkvale (7.15pm kick off).
