A WESTHILL-based rugby team is appealing for new players.

Caledonia League Division 2 side WestDyce RFC play their home matches in Westhill at Westdyke Community Centre's pitch.

The club was established in Dyce in 1985. There are a handful of players who featured in the club's first game, when they were known as Dyce still playing for the club.

When the club's pitch in Dyce was closed the club relocated to Westhill and was accepted by the Scottish Rugby Union to join the Scottish Hydro Caledonia 2 NE League in 2008. The club changed its name to WestDyce RFC in tribute to their new home and to honour the club's origins.
Dyce pub The New Greentrees currently sponsor WestDyce RFC.

The club is keen to recruit any new members who may wish to rekindle their playing days, learn the game or simply get some exercise.

Club secretary Mike Fearn added: "We have a mixture of older players and younger guys coming through who have bags of potential. We used to be losing matches quite heavily when we first joined the league but now we have found our feet we are starting to hold our own."

Anyone interested in joining should contact club secretary Mike Fearn. His contact details can be found on the club's website: www.westdycerugbyclub.co.uk
