Aboyne plans season ahead

Despite a battering from this winter’s gales, Aboyne Tennis Club is working hard to get ready for the new outdoor tennis season.

Fallen trees caused significant damage to one of the outdoor courts but repair works continue to get the courts in shape for the start of the season, which will kick off over the Easter holidays with the Junior Easter Camp from Monday, April 9 to Friday, April 13, followed by the opening Sunday of family social tennis and barbecue on Sunday, April 15.

Until then, indoor coaching for juniors will start again at the Deeside Community Centre on Wednesday, February 22 for six weeks, from 3.30 pm to 4.15 pm for children in P1 to P3 and 4.15 pm to 5 pm for those in P4 to P6.

Aboyne Tennis Club is holding its annual general meeting at Aboyne Scout Hut from 7.30 pm on Tuesday, March 6, when the annual LTA Wimbledon draw will be held and various items, including a new constitution, will be discussed.

All members are warmly invited and refreshments will be served.

Aboyne Tennis Club is seeking new members for its management committee including the roles of Junior Co-ordinator and Secretary.

For further information on the vacant posts, the AGM or coaching, contact the club’s chairperson, Joss Marshall, on 013398 87205 or email aboynetennis@googlemail.com.
