Alford students put to the test

THE Choi Kwang Do Black Belt Academy (Scotland) held a Black Belt testing at the Tullynessle Hall at the weekend.

The event was well attended with many family, friends and spectators there to cheer on the students.

There were three students grading to Black Belt 1st Dan, five grading to 2nd Dan, and one student grading up to 3rd Dan. To carry out the testing, Master Dale Miller (5th Dan) made the trip up from Bristol, and International Examiner, Debz Rafferty (4th Dan) travelled all the way from Italy. Mr. Paul Goldsmith (2nd Dan) also attended from London to assist in examining.

In what was a gruelling six hour testing, all nine students successfully demonstrated all the required syllabus and passed with flying colours. At the Belt presentation, Master Miller announced that as usual he found the Alford and Kingswells students to be of the highest standard.

Grading to Black Belt 1st Dan were Annie Anderson, Fergus Anderson and Ewan Manson. Grading to 2nd Dan were John Flann, Kim McConnachie, Gusdi Zulfendi, Alastair Maclean and Samir Diab. Alan Stott graded to 3rd Dan.

Nadine Thomas (4th Dan and School Owner) took floor command for the grading and was delighted with the success of the CKDBBA students.

A lot of hard work went into both the training leading up to the Grading, and the organisation of the event. It was the culmination of years of very hard work by the students, and the CKDBBA would like to thank everyone that was involved, including the students and assistant instructors who turned out on the day to help, including Georgia Boylan (1st Dan), Derek Gray (1st Dan), Cedric Charrier, Lynn Cormack and Alex Dow.
