Scratch prize winners Ron Whyte and daughter Lauren

The sun shone for most of the day at Lumphanan as an almost record number of players enjoyed a round over a course in excellent condition and thereafter retired to the clubhouse to enjoy some freshly prepared home baking and cooking by the new season caterers.

A returning pair triumphed with Ron Whyte from Deeside and his daughter, Lauren, from Hazlehead, shooting a 74 to win the scratch prize with Duncan and Linda Keir from the home club taking the first handicap with a net 62, winning also the best local prize.

Allan Williams from Lumphanan won the nearest the pin, with Allison Clayton from Aberdeen Ladies taking the same prize for the Ladies.

The full results are as follows: Scratch -R Whyte (Deeside) and L Whyte (Hazlehead) 74; M Carnie (Newburgh) and L Carnie (Newburgh) 74; J Spiers (Hazlehead) and M Finnie (Hazlehead) 76.

Handicap: D Keir and L Keir 92 (30) – 62; M Connolly and J Wilson 78 (15) – 63; D Bell (Newburgh) and A Clayton (Aberdeen Ladies) 87 (21) – 66.
