Seventh heaven as boys reach another final

Banchory reached their second final this season with a fine win against Aberdeen opposition Sheddocksley BC in the Noskab Trophy.

The game was played in near perfect conditions after all of the rain that had fallen over the course of the week.

Banchory were first to show when a through ball found Henderson but his effort went wide. Next a Header from McPherson was just placed over the bar. Sheddocksley then created a good chance to score when a long ball caught the defence square only for the resultant shot to go wide.

Banchory opened the scoring midway through the half when a quick free kick by Reid found Sadler, his first time cross was met by HENDERSON who expertly headed the ball into the far corner.

The home side were not playing their usual flowing football and found passes going astray and off target. This encouraged the visitors when another chance fell to the striker but Leslie in goal did well to save.

As the game neared half time, Banchory did increase their lead.

A through ball by Henderson looked to be easy for the keeper but BUCHAN darted in-front of the defender and goalie to take the ball and coolly place into the empty net.

The second half saw the home side take command, where the visiting team seemed to back off and tire.

A cross from the left was met by SMITH where he finished clinically from just inside the box.

SMITH then added a fourth and his second when poor defending allowed the attacking wing back ghost past two defenders and chip the keeper.

The game was beyond Sheddocksley now but they did grab a consolation goal when corner for their left was met by their centre back to power the ball past Leslie.

As the game reached the half-way point of the second half, SMITH completed his hat-trick after Christie worked hard down the left and found him inside the box unmarked to coolly tap the ball home.

MCPHERSON then added a sixth having been found on the left by Nicoll and powerfully fired the ball home.

Just on the full time a rasping effort by Rennie was brilliantly saved by the visiting keeper.

A seventh was not going to be denied though, when Iason skipped down the left and found Rennie, his initial shot was saved but MCPHERSON followed up and thrashed the ball home.

This see’s the Deeside team play Banks O’Dee Albion in the final. Date to be confirmed.
