Super Troup-er!

SUPER sub Gordon Troup put Echt a step nearer to the Premier Division title with two goals in four minutes as his side ran out 4-3 winners over local rivals Westdyke.

It was Westdyke's Taylor who had the first opportunity of the match when he dispossessed Robertson but Echt stopper Garden tipped his shot over the bar.

At the other end goalkeeper Neill had to look lively to thwart Echt's Still from six yards out.

However the home side broke the deadlock when a pass from Mann found Calum Murray whose drive gave goalkeeper Neill no chance.

But Westdyke equalised just before the break when Paul Bain netted from two yards after Echt failed to clear their lines.

Westdyke went on the attack from the start of the second period and within two minutes were ahead after Russell Aitchison scored from close range.

Echt brought on Gordon Troup midway through the half and in 73 minutes he headed home to restore parity once more.

The hosts took the lead a minute later when Swan crossed for Gareth Still to turn the ball home.

From the restart Troup ran onto a long ball over the top and slotted past the Westdyke goalkeeper to put Echt two ahead.

Westdyke regrouped and pushed forward, pinning Echt in their own half. Their pressure paid off in 89 minutes when Gordon Douglas headed past goalkeeper Garden.

And Douglas almost earned Westdyke a point deep in injury time but his fierce shot hit the crossbar.

The win leaves Echt two points ahead of Bon Accord City who they meet on Saturday in an exciting end to the league.
