Janey Godley stars in The Last Mermaid
One of Scotland’s most exciting annual events for filmmakers, the Scottish Short Film Festival (SSFF), will go ahead this year – online.
Now in its eighth year, viewers will be able to watch 25 of the best Scottish short films from September 6 to 11.
The SSFF 2020 awards ceremony will also be live streamed on Saturday, September 12.
Usually based in Glasgow, the festival will boast a wide range of movies and genres, made by some of the best independent Scottish writers and directors, including The Last Mermaid starring Scottish comedian and actress Janey Godley.
Gina Vereker, festival director, said: “With the global pandemic, we were lucky we had the option to go online as many creative events have had no choice but to cancel.
“Changing to an online experience has upped our technical skills a few levels but we have enjoyed having the option to showcase these wonderful short films.”
The SSFF focuses on supporting filmmakers in their careers, helping them to build an audience, providing a platform to showcase their work and giving feedback to help develop their skills.
All filmmakers who submit films to the festival receive feedback, whether they are successful or not.
