A long-established Banchory accountancy firm has a new owner.

Williamsons Chartered Accountants has been acquired by North-east accountants James Milne.

The company has also announced the acquisition of Turriff business Tax U Save Limited.

Both deals were completed recently following the retirement of the owners, and the James Milne team now provides accountancy services to more than 300 new clients.

Those from Tax U Save Limited will be looked after by James Milne’s Inverurie office while the firm already has a presence in Banchory.

The four employees of Williamsons will be retained.

Partner Richard Christie, who heads up the firm’s Banchory office, has worked with colleagues to ensure a smooth transition.

He said: “The opportunity to acquire Williamsons Chartered Accountants was not to be missed as it consolidates our presence in Banchory as well as the wider Deeside area.

“Similarly, the acquisition of Tax U Save Limited in Turriff was an attractive proposition for us and the new intake of clients from both firms provides an additional boost to our business.

“We’ve had a very successful 12 months in terms of growth and the team has done an excellent job working with new and existing clients to provide a range of accountancy and taxation services across the North-east and beyond.,” he added.

Mike Williamson, who formed Williamsons in 1985, said: “I am handing onto James Milne Chartered Accountants who I’m sure will enjoy working with our clients as much as I have, and I wish them every success in the future.”

James Milne serves both personal and business clients across a diverse range of industries, from the Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire staples of oil and gas and agriculture through to retail, hospitality, fishing, haulage, trades, and construction.
