It was a case of ‘hair’ today gone tomorrow for one Aboyne Academy pupil who saw scissors taken to her long locks for charity.
Third year pupil Georgia Smith decided to get 12 inches of her lovely, long hair chopped off by Robert of Demilo Unisex Hair Salon, Ballater, after being inspired by a little girl who is undergoing treatment for cancer.
Georgia’s hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
The Trust relies solely on the efforts of enthusiastic community fundraisers.
The foot-long section of Georgia’s hair will enable a wig to be made for a little girl for Valentine’s Day.
Those who support the Dinnet Panto will recognise the generous Deesider, who has performed on stage in the past five productions. This year, Georgia will tread the boards again in the theatre group’s production of ‘Babes in the Wood’.
A keen Highland dancer and netballer, Georgia is well known in the local community.
