THE Christmas Lights Committee in Alford is holding the first in a series of fundraising events, to help put on an even better display this Christmas.
A Scottish Music Evening is being held on Friday, May 7, in Alford Public Hall at 7.30pm. Music will be provided by members of the Scottish Music Accordion Group.
Tickets priced 6, including refreshments, are available from W and R Murray and Key Store in Main Street, Alford.
All proceeds will go towards Alford's Christmas lights.
The committee was formed last year in conjunction with Donside Community Council and to date over 12,000 has been raised.
Hundreds of people gathered in the town last December to watch the switch-on of the first ever display of Christmas lights. The ceremony was performed by Alford Primary pupil, Andriana Stronach, winner of the Christmas lights logo competition, and Sir Robert Smith MP.
Heather Pirie is a member of the committee. She said: "We really want to say a very big 'thank you' to all the local businesses, organisations and individuals who donated money to the fund."
She added: "We're hoping to have an even bigger event this year!"
Organisers would like to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer their services to help with this year's fundraising efforts, or to make a donation. For more information, call Heather on 077929 41185.
