A British Empire Medal (BEM) was presented to Mrs Amy Wilson on Friday, May 1, at the Lairhillock Inn’s Crynoch Restaurant.
The Lord Lieutenant of Kincardineshire Carol Kinghorn presented the honour to Mrs Wilson following her inclusion in Her Majesty the Queen’s New Year Honours list. The Deeside resident was recognised for her services to the Drumoak and Durris community.
Mrs Wilson was joined by family and friends for the special occasion earlier this month.
The BEM is a medal awarded for meritorious civil or military service worthy of recognition by the Crown.
The honour that exists today was created in 1922 to replace the original medal, which was established in 1917 as part of the Order of the British Empire.
