More than 1200 delegates from around the globe will make their way to Routes Europe 2015 in Aberdeen, following last year’s event in Marseille.
It is a major business to business event designed to attract European air route development professionals to meet with regional airports to consider new air routes.
One of the largest regional route development events, it takes place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) from April 12-14.
Hosting the event, a first for Scotland, gives the area and the country as a whole a fantastic opportunity to showcase itself to airlines from across the globe.
VisitAberdeen will make sure delegates are welcomed to the area as they arrive in advance of the event and that they enjoy the visitor experience.
They will be given a chance to explore the area over the weekend and take part in more formal tours, including the chance to try some of the area’s challenging golf courses.
Tours will head to Balmoral and Crathes castles, Royal Lochnagar and Glen Garioch distilleries, amongst other locations, to highlight the scenery, food and drink and historic beauty available locally.
Delegates are encouraged to ‘Pack More In’ during their visit – to highlight the wide range of business, leisure and investment opportunities in the region.
A gala night hosted by Aberdeenshire Provost Jill Webster will be held at Castle Fraser on the Monday.
Provost Webster said: “By hosting Routes Europe we can raise the profile of Aberdeen International Airport amongst airlines and support ongoing route development efforts.
“This is a chance to promote our area to people at the heart of decision making on aviation matters, and they will be given a fantastic taste of Scotland in Aberdeenshire.”
VisitAberdeen’s Steve Harris, added: “VisitAberdeen is delighted to welcome Routes Europe to the city.”
