Clan Cancer Support and the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) began sharing their first proper bases in the town of Banchory this week.
The units at eight and nine in Scott Skinner Square now house the two charitable organisations, and they are inviting people to their open days on Friday and Saturday to check out the range of free services they’re offering.
Gemma Powell, Clan’s area services co-ordinator, said: “We are delighted to have reached this moment and are excited to invite people to our open day. Banchory residents have been so positive about Clan since we first had a presence here in 2013 and we have seen our services steadily grow and develop since then, so much so that a permanent base was needed.”
Prior to taking up quarters in Scott Skinner Square, Clan used West Church Hall as a base.
“We have gone into partnership with CAB to share the building as they were also looking for premises in Banchory and we would like to thank them for their continued support,” said Gemma. “The Open Day will be a great opportunity for people to find out more about what Clan does and how we can help them.
“Our therapists, volunteers and staff will be on hand to answer any questions and have a chat. We would like to invite clients past and present, as well as individuals wanting to learn more to pop along on Friday and see us.”
The Clan open day is on Friday, February 12, and will run from 11am to 3pm.
CAB’s open day will be on Saturday, February 13, from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
Eveline Crossan, manager for South Aberdeenshire CAB, said: “We would welcome any member of the public, people involved in local voluntary groups or statutory services, and local businesses who would like to find out what we do and how we provide support, advice and information to any citizen and to demonstrate the range of advice subjects we deliver.
“Our specialists are experts in financial matters, but we deal with any kind of problem.”
CLAN is open in Banchory every Thursday from 10am to 4pm for people to drop-in, while CAB is currently open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 1pm.
