Diane Lennan (36) and her husband Ricky (35), who is a staff sergeant in the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, moved to the Highland capital in December 2014.
The couple and their two children, Aidan (8) and Ciaran (5) were previously stationed in Wiltshire.
While there, Diane was a member of the Tidworth Military Wives Choir.
And when she moved to Inverness she decided to form a branch there.
She enlisted the help of Inverurie man Alyn Ross, head of music at Inverness Royal Academy, as musical director.
Now, just over a year later, Diane, Alyn and her twelve fellow choir members have been invited to perform with Scots superstar Lulu at Eden Court on March 18.
They will be performing on Lulu’s new single Cry, which will be released on February 26 to raise funds for the Military Wives Choirs Foundation.
Lulu teamed up with the Foundation to raise awareness and funds due to her own battles with PTSD.
Diane said: “We had to apply for the chance to join her on stage and were over the moon when we heard we’d been successful.
“My mum and dad (Edward and Maureen Emslie, who still live in Ballater) are big fans so they are really excited too!
“Unfortunately, it’s a sell out already so they won’t be able to see me, but we’ll record it and Ricky and the boys will be there, along with my stepson Jordan (20).
“Our boys are excited and Ricky has been so supportive.
“It’s not every day a girl from Ballater gets to sing with a superstar – we’re all just buzzing with excitement.”
But the Lulu gig is not the only engagement the choir has this year. They’ll also be performing on the Belladrum festival’s main stage on August 6 and at the Highland Tattoo at Fort George in September.
Diane, who works at Sodexo in corporate catering, added: “We’re looking forward to our 15 minutes of fame!”
